Pakistan
came into being after great sacrifices by the Muslims of India.
Millions of them had to shift to Pakistan in search of peace and
freedom. They undertook upon themselves great deprivations of the
onerous journey along a hazardous track leading to a long-cherished
goal of promise and prosperity; to a land of pure and noble habitat.
But, along this promising path, they were mercilessly put to sword
by the enemies of Islam and by those who could not endure the enviable
sight of the unshakable faith moving along on foot, in bullock-carts
and in slow-moving trains. The highway Delhi --- Lahore is a witness
to the bloodshed and the miseries inflicted on the migrating Muslims.
The great deluge of the refugees passing through the painful process
of the partition in 1947 was a big challenge for the administration
of Pakistan. The initial years of Pakistan infancy, with almost
no resources, passed with a sense of compassionate efficiency. The
challenge was accepted by all with grace and courage. The nexus
of government-without-resources and the people-with-courage was
the hallmark of the earlier years of our newly-born homeland. The
corruption was minimal and the spirit to live with honor and pride
was predominating.
As the years passed on, the values changed. The lust for power
and money overtook the virtues of morality and purity. The downward
slide continued till the nation witnessed the pick of their leaders
turn into renegades. The rulers and the bureaucrats started plundering
the people's money with impunity. During the last decade before
the turn of the century, those in the corridor of power went to
the abhor ant extent of shifting assets to other countries exposing
their malafide intentions to say good-bye to their mother-land,
a piece of land they were governing as a sacred trust of Allah and
an "amanat" of the people.
A
situation developed, wherein the rich became richer by illegal means
acquiring wealth through prohibited avenues. They used the ill-acquiring
wealth to but "legal powers and the power to collect more wealth.
Such families turned into dynasties who then controlled the "politics"
The ruling junta of our sacred land changed hands to rule by turn
as if only they had inherited this privileges as their proprietary
rights
We saw the abominable role played by our leadership bringing Pakistan
to the brink of a "Failed" state. This is the calamity from within.
We were under two-pronged attack. The one from outside has been
more obnoxious and vindictive.
Since the appearance of Pakistan on the world map India left no
stone unturned to weaken Pakistan. It is evident that India will
eliminate Pakistan whenever it gets opportunity. To live in this
scenario of hostility from outside and powerful parasites from within,
it demands to reorganize our internal forces and all our means,
both physical and spiritual, to galvanise these to fight first the
inner Jinni and then the outside giants.
Having identified the two areas which have tended to cancer our
natinal existence we looked for a forum wherfrom we could seek strength
and credibility to launch our uphill and manifestly difficult task
of building the nation. Pakistan Ex-servicemen Society (PESS) which
since 1990 is organized at all level i.e, from national down to
wards/Union council was considered appropriate to act as a nucleus
along with their civilian country counterparts, friends and relatives
and well wishers of the country to accomplish the task mentioned
above because it had a huge workforce full of spirit and patriotism.
The common man is breathing under the pressure of overwhelming
poverty. He is being exploited by the feudal lords, the haughty
bureaucrats and unscrupulous rulers. The common man needs a respite,
he is looking for a genuine bold and honest leadership. Let us get
together and try to provide it.
